<p>However, not all foods are organic. Even though organic foods are healthy for us, in more ways than one, our grocery stores are still being filled with foods that contain chemicals, pesticides and preservatives.</p>
<p>What â€˜organicâ€™ food means:</p>
<p>As mentioned before organic foods are free of chemicals and other harmful substances. However, the foods that do in fact contain chemicals and other additives have not exactly always been around. As true as that may be, their foods being introduced to our grocery store have changed our overall health. You might say that consuming organic, naturally grown food can help our bodies work their best.</p>
<p>Even though many foods are monitored by the Food and Drug Administration, we the consumers do not know just what effects these contaminated foods and ingredients can have on our body. So why would you want to risk that?</p>
<p>The best way to choose and eat organic food:</p>
<p>When trying to choose organic foods you should realize the importance of a â€˜certifiedâ€™ organic. All organic foods are supposed to be labeled with a â€˜certifiedâ€™ and unless you know the precise source from where the food came that you are buying, you should always look for this label. The certified label means that they went through certain and strict regulations and rules in order to be sure the foods met the â€˜certifiedâ€™ government standards. This label also helps concerned consumers like yourself make a better choice when grocery shopping.</p>
<p>Some people might easily be confused by the difference in â€˜naturalâ€™ and â€˜certifiedâ€™, try not to confuse the two because not all the â€˜naturalâ€™ labeled food is necessarily organic. Every county is different when they label food but in Australia, their organic food certified label reads â€˜Your Guarantee of Integrity Australian Certified Organic.â€™ However, internationally the certified label will read â€˜Quality Assurance International Certified Organic.â€™</p>
<p>What are the benefits of organic foods?</p>
<p>Aside from organic foods helping give you healthy, youthful, natural skin they have also been shown to lower your risk of cancer and other medical conditions which can alter your lifestyle. Certain societies, the Okinawans for instance, have traditionally lived in rich volcanic soil areas because they are free of chemicals and in turn give the people a high antioxidant level from the foods grown in such pristine condition. Along with this they also posses one of the lowest rates of cancer and heart diseases in the world, do you think that is a coincidence?</p>
<p>People need to examine the environment and the impact it can have on our food. Organic fruits and vegetables keep the ground soil natural unlike the many foods that are often sold in reusable and recyclable packages.</p>
<p>When using an organic diet, the foods need to be eaten on a regular basis. For instance if you switch to only organic foods and nothing else you are more than likely going to have the healthiest skin compared to those who mix. <p>Due to few regulations regarding the use of the term &#8216;organic&#8217; by pet food manufacturers, pet owners are often confused about what precisely organic pet foods are. They are often unaware that only certified organic pet food claims are regulated and enforced by the U.S. government, whereas any other, non-certified organic pet food claims are not verified by an unbiased third-party, and therefore may not be legitimate. This confusion over terminology is all the more regrettable since organic pet foods have a variety of nutritional advantages compared to their non-organic counterparts. </p>
<p>If you wish to maintain the health of your dog, cat or pocket pet, you should be aware that certified organic pet foods are significantly healthier and more nutritious than any available alternatives. </p>
<p>Organic pet food nutrition is safer than conventional (i.e., non-certified organic) nutrition. Organic standards prohibit the use of most synthetic chemicals during the production of either certified organic pet foods or their individual ingredients. Many such synthetic chemicals are known to be toxic to both humans and pets, as well as harmful to the environment. Notably, unlike conventional pet foods, certified organic pet foods exclude highly toxic pesticide residues, which in itself offers an enormous health advantage for your pet. Moreover, organic standards prohibit the use of GMO ingredients, which have been implicated in a number of health problems. Furthermore, organic standards also assure that synthetic ingredients, which may pose health risks for pets, are also excluded from certified organic pet foods. </p>
<p>Nutrition provided by organic pet foods offers greater health benefits for your pet than that provided pet foods made from conventionally grown ingredients because organic ingredients contain higher levels of nutrients such as vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. </p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve ever raised a litter of animals with nutrition derived wholly from certified organic pet foods, then you and/or your veterinarian may have noticed that these animals maintained good health, rarely if ever developing any of the more common chronic diseases afflicting large numbers of pets. An obvious sign of good health based on such a good diet is a soft and shiny coat that persists well into old age. But more importantly, animals raised on a diet of organic foods may develop far fewer allergies and other diseases than animals raised on conventional pet foods. </p>
<p>Although organic pet food nutrients are of crucial importance to your pet&#8217;s health, they can&#8217;t do all the &#8216;heavy lifting.&#8217; As your pet&#8217;s guardian, you should also be concerned that the ingredients that are included in his or her food are healthful and species-appropriate, i.e., suitable for a pocket pet, dog, cat, or whatever kind of animal your pet may be. Always keep in mind that organic pet food standards do not prohibit the use of organic ingredients that are unhealthy. Just because an ingredient is organic and often safer than its conventionally grown counterpart doesn&#8217;t mean that it&#8217;s healthy or appropriate for your animal. So, educate yourself about your pet&#8217;s special nutritional needs and always check the labels on pet food packaging for inappropriate ingredients. For example, truly nutritious organic pet foods should never contain refined ingredients, such as natural sweeteners (including many sugars and honey) or refined flours, all of which can cause obesity, diabetes and a variety of well-characterized chronic diseases, including arthritis. </p>
<p>Also note that organic food nutrients can often be destroyed during the pet food manufacturing process. Use of excessive heat is the main culprit here. Heat destroys many nutrients and chemically alters proteins and even nutritional fibers in ways that too often make these nutrients a challenge to digest. Such heavy processing can cause not only intestinal upsets and allergies in your pet, but serious nutritional deficiencies as well. </p>
<p>Organic pet food nutrition is ideally based on raw (i.e., fresh or frozen) or raw-dehydrated ingredients. However, you should be aware that dehydration claims are not regulated, not even those made for certified organic pet food products. If very high dehydration temperatures are used, many nutrients will be destroyed. Since there is no regulation of the temperatures used during the dehydration process, you need to do your homework and investigate just how trustworthy a given pet food manufacturer really is. Does the manufacturer make many claims that aren&#8217;t regulated and can&#8217;t be verified by an unbiased third-party? As often as not, such claims are merely sales pitches with little substance. </p>
<p>The best bet is to always look for legitimate signs of organic certification, such as the USDA organic seal or the &#8216;certified organic&#8217; claim. Although USDA organic standards don&#8217;t regulate the meaning of all terms (i.e., &#8216;raw,&#8217; &#8216;dehydrated&#8217;), USDA-accredited organic certification agencies (e.g., Oregon Tilth, Quality Assurance International) obtain all manufacturing records from pet food companies producing organic products, including the temperatures at which products are processed or dehydrated. Even though organic certification agencies won&#8217;t disclose this information to consumers, manufacturers generally adhere to the protocols they submit to these certification agencies, which then must disclose this information to the U.S. government. Any doubts about this information would likely elicit a federal inspection of a pet food manufacturer&#8217;s records. </p>
<p>So, remember: the safest and most healthful way to feed your pet is to stick to organic pet food-based nutrition which is species-appropriate, excludes all obviously unhealthy ingredients, and includes only those foods which have been processed in a manner that retains the natural form and potency of the constituent life-preserving organic nutrients.

<p>You have heard a lot about organic foods. Many people are looking for safer, more natural foods and organic food fits the bill. Some researchers say that organic foods are better for you because they are pesticide free. Other people say that food is food and that organic food is no better for you than any other types of foods. So, are organic foods better for you than foods that are not grown organically? Here is a closer look.</p>
<p>Pros of Organic Foods:<br/>There are several pros of organic foods that no one can argue with. First of all, these foods are grown so that they do not use chemicals and pesticides. Farmers that produce organic foods find other ways to control weeds, insects and disease rather than spraying them with harsh chemicals. Natural fertilizers are preferred over chemicals. If you are looking at organic meats, there is a difference there, too. For example, traditionally, farmers that tend to livestock for food consumption will inject the animals with antibiotics, growth hormones and other types of medications. These are to prevent diseases and help the animal grow larger. Organic farmers do not do this. Instead, they feed their animals organic foods and allow them to live outside and take preventative measures to raise livestock. In short, plants and animals that are grown organically are better for the animal, the environment and you.</p>
<p>Disadvantages of Organic foods:<br/>Many people find that there are some disadvantages of organic foods. For one, it is more expensive. This is because it cost more to tend to animals and produce livestock organically. These higher costs are passed on to the consumer. Families with an already tight budget may pass on organic foods because of price alone. Also, organic foods may be harder to find. While it is true that many grocery stores are now carrying organic foods, many smaller cities may not have large choices. You may be limited in what you can buy without going to a specialty store.</p>
<p>You should also remember that not all organic foods are the same. The USDA certifies organic foods and has guidelines that must be followed. It is also interesting to note that if you buy an organic food, it does not mean that all of the ingredients in the product is organic. If it is certified as USDA organic, it means that at least 95 percent of ingredients are organic. Foods that are marked â€œmade with organic ingredientsâ€ simply means that ingredients used to make the product are 70 percent organic. These will not be labeled with the USDA seal.</p>
<p>So in short, when you have to make the decision of whether or not to go organic at the grocery store, keep a few things in mind. There have been no conclusive studies that show that organic foods are more nutritious than organic foods. The USDA certifies these products, but does not endorse them as safer or more nutritious. Also, keep in mind that some organic products may not look the same as non-organic foods. This is because no wax or preservatives are used. They may spoil faster, too. Take all of this into consideration when shopping.</p>

<p>The following is a list of foods or additives which are dangerous or deadly.</p>
<p>Hot Dogs and Processed Meats &#8211; have chemical preservative which increase cancer risks.</p>
<p>Prepared Baby Food &#8211; traces of Pesticides have been found in jars of baby foods. Concern about the chemical, semicarbazide, a sealant used on the jars, this product is carcinogenic and it can seep into the food. Most jar sizes are large so the amount ingested is apparently not harmful. Baby jars, are smaller the amount is greater per volume and therefore percentage level is higher.</p>
<p>Babies should only have natural grown, pesticide free food. Make your own baby food. Note when cooking and preparing the food, do not add salt, babies do not need sodium, it is too hard for there body to break down.</p>
<p>Rice &#8211; is used for baby food as it has a very low allergy risk.<br/>The way it grows, can absorb contaminates from the ground so it really needs to be properly rinsed prior to cooking.</p>
<p>Pancake, Brownie &amp; Cake Mix &#8211; a mould can grow in old mix, and then if consumed, can be extremely dangerous, even deadly.</p>
<p>Milk &#8211; To increase production some farmers give their cows Growth Hormones. Taken in large doses these can have an adverse effect on your body and development.</p>
<p>Hydrogenate Oil &#8211; It&#8217;s a hard oil, used in margarine to stabilize it, so it does not melt down into a liquid as quickly as butter. The process used to make hydrogenated vegetable oil (or partially hydrogenated vegetable oil) creates Trans fats, which promote heart disease and diabetes. Its used in many foods, not just margarine.</p>
<p>Fat/Avacado Free Guacamole &#8211; avocados are high in fat and expensive, so manufacturers are now substituting their dips with hydrogenate oil, yellow and blue food colouring, flavouring for the Avacado.</p>
<p>Artificial Crab Meat &#8211; exactly that &#8211; consists of beef plasma &#8211; when blood is spun down the red blood cells clump together and are removed, leaving a clear liquid. This is plasma which is then mixed with fish and artificial colour.</p>
<p>Raw Eggs &#8211; the bacteria in raw eggs can cause food poisoning. It can also be contaminated with salmonella, a food-borne illness that can prove fatal if untreated.<br/>Cooking destroys the bacteria. Eating raw eggs is not recommended while pregnant nor to be given to babies. Before eating/ordering that the Cesar Salad, make sure the dressing is not made with raw eggs. Some tonics and protein drinks add raw eggs</p>
<p>Shellfish &#8211; have bacteria, as bacteria exists naturally in the sea. While cooking destroys these bacteria, eating raw shellfish can lead to diarrhea, nausea, stomach cramps and vomiting. People most susceptible are diabetics, cancer sufferers and people with liver disease or immune disorders. Some severe cases can lead to death.</p>
<p>Strawberries &#8211; Many farmers use pesticides. Check the country of origin, as some are higher than others.</p>
<p>Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) &#8211; MSG is used as a flavor enhancer in many packaged foods, including soups, salad dressings, sausages, hot dogs, canned tuna, potato chips, instant noodles and many more. MSG can lead to intolerance and allergic reactions such as severe headaches (migraines), nausea, drowsiness, heart palpitations, asthma, and anaphylactic shock.</p>
<p>Aspartame &#8211; This artificial sweetener is found in Equal and NutraSweet, diet sodas and other low-cal foods. This sweetener has been found to cause brain tumors in rats as far back as the 1970&#8242;s.<br/>However a more recent study in 2005, found that even small doses increase the incidence of lymphomas and leukemia in rats, along with brain tumors.<br/>Aspartame is made of 3 components, 50% phenylalanine, 40% aspartic acid and 10% methanol (wood alcohol). In the body methanol breaks down into formaldehyde (embalming fluid) and formic acid.</p>
